Dr Anthony Mak

Dr Anthony Mak is a Sydney-based dentist and a University of Sydney graduate (BDS, 2002). He is the founder of W Dental (Woollahra) and Inner West Dental (Five Dock).

In 2017, Dr Mak and Dr Adrian Mazzaferro rebuilt Inner West Dental (Five Dock).

His clinical interests include comprehensive restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and implant dentistry, with a strong interest in contemporary dental materials and digital dentistry workflows (including CAD/CAM and 3D printing), which may be used where clinically appropriate.

Dr Mak is involved in continuing professional education through lectures and workshops. Public event listings and speaker profiles indicate he has delivered education in Australia and New Zealand (including NZDA events in 2024 and 2025) and has presented internationally through professional education programs (including Asia, Europe and the United States).

He has published clinical articles and case studies in dental publications, including the Australian Dental Journal (e.g., minimally invasive rehabilitation of the worn dentition, 2019) and other professional outlets (e.g., direct composite restoration case study, 2021). He is also listed as the author of two clinical compendiums covering direct composite and indirect ceramic restorations (bibliographic details to be confirmed).

Outside clinical practice, Dr Mak has held professional roles including membership of the GC Europe Restorative Advisory Board, and committee involvement with the University of Sydney graduate implant dentistry program and the University of Sydney dental alumni community.

When not at the clinic, Dr Mak enjoys spending time with his young family.

Dr Adrian Mazzaferro

Dentist | BN BDent (USyd), Grad Dip Clin Dent (Oral Implants) (USyd)

Dr Adrian Mazzaferro is a Sydney-based dentist and a University of Sydney graduate. He is also a registered nurse, having completed a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) at the University of Sydney.

Dr Mazzaferro graduated with a Bachelor of Dentistry (BDent) from the University of Sydney and received the Anthony P Martin Prize in clinical endodontics (root canal therapy). He has completed postgraduate training in oral implants, including the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants, and regularly participates in continuing professional development.

He provides dental care for children and adults, with experience across general dentistry and restorative dentistry, as well as implant and oral surgery care where clinically appropriate. His professional interests include complex restorative procedures and orthodontic aligner therapy. During your consultation, Dr Mazzaferro will discuss suitable options based on your individual assessment, including expected benefits, risks and alternatives.

With his nursing background, Dr Mazzaferro aims to provide a calm, supportive experience and can discuss options for patients who feel anxious about dental treatment, where appropriate.

Outside the clinic, Dr Mazzaferro enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter and maintains an active lifestyle. He is proud of his Italian heritage and is currently taking Italian language classes. His interests include travel, snowboarding, motorcycles and film.

Dr Caroline Chung

Peadiatric Specialist Dentist | BDS (USyd), MDS (Paediatric Dentistry), Adv Dip (Paed), MRACDS (Paed), MRCS (Edin) (Paed)

Dr Caroline Chung completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at the University of Sydney (2003). She completed Primary Examinations with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and gained experience in private practice in Sydney and on the NSW South Coast.

Dr Chung undertook postgraduate specialist training in paediatric dentistry at the University of Hong Kong, completing a Master of Dental Surgery (Paediatric Dentistry) and an Advanced Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry (2009). She has also completed further college examinations, including Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Paediatric Dentistry and Membership in Specialist Dental Practice (Paediatric Dentistry) with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Chung has presented clinical cases and research internationally (including at IADR in Canada and IAPD in Germany), and her postgraduate research has been published in a peer‑reviewed dental research journal.

She practises as a registered specialist paediatric dentist and provides dental care for children, including support for anxious patients and children with additional needs. Her professional interests include developmental defects of enamel (including “chalky teeth”), early childhood caries, dental trauma and oral surgery where clinically appropriate.

Dr Chung is allergy-aware in her clinical practice, including careful consideration of materials used and medications prescribed where clinically appropriate.

Born and raised in Sydney, Dr Chung has spent her school years in the Inner West and is pleased to care for local families. She works closely with dental colleagues and other health specialists as needed to support coordinated care and a long‑term approach to children’s oral health. She has also supported community oral health education through local childcare and preschool visits and parent information sessions.

Kath Sutherland

Dental Hygienist (Woollahra)

Kath Sutherland is a dental hygienist who began her dental hygiene training in New Zealand and has been based in Australia for more than 20 years.

She stays up to date with evidence-informed preventive oral health approaches and is interested in the relationship between oral health and general health.

Kath focuses on patient education and practical home-care guidance, taking time to explain oral hygiene techniques and discuss habits that may support long-term oral health. Recommendations are tailored to each patient’s needs and circumstances.

Kath has been part of the Woollahra team for over 10 years. Outside the clinic, she enjoys rugby and cricket.
